This policy (together with our Terms and Conditions and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), the Data Controller is Glass Bob. Glass Bob is notified with the ICO as a Data Controller.
The details below describe how we use the information collected about you and how we make sure your privacy is protected.
Information provided by you are:
1.1 stored for the primary purpose of informing registered users with properties that may be of interest.
1.2 used by our property matching service to identify potential property swaps.
1.3 to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.
1.4 used to resolve disputes and troubleshoot any problems.
1.5 to provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.
1.6 to notify you about changes to our service.
1.7 We may use your data, or permit selected third parties to use your data, to provide you with information about goods and services which may be of interest to you and we or they may contact you about these by post or telephone. You may opt out of this by ticking the relevant box during registration, or by writing or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Type of data
We may collect and process the following data about you:
2.1 Information that you provide by filling in forms on our website. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our site, subscribing to our service, posting material or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our site.
2.2 If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
2.3 Details of transactions you carry out through our site and of the fulfilment of your orders.
2.4 Details of your visits to our site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.
3 Overseas access
The internet is a globally accessible medium. Therefore, information on this site may also be access and transferred from overseas including outside of European Economic Area (EEA).
4 Disclosure of your information
We may disclose your personal information:
4.1 to service providers under contract with us who help with our business operations (such as Paypal).
4.2 to third parties in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
4.3 if we are under a duty to do so or in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
4.4 We may also disclose your contact details, which includes your email address and telephone number, to users with full membership. If you do not wish to have your contact details shown to users with full membership then you can specify this by un-ticking the appropriate checkbox when you register, or by un-ticking the appropriate checkbox under Edit Property Info page. The Edit Property Info page can be found at My Account -> My Property Details -> then clicking the Edit button of the Property Info panel.
5.1 To register with us, you are required to fill in a form to enable us to contact you by email.
5.2 You are considered a registered user of the site only after you confirm the validity of your email address by clicking on the link that is sent to the email address you provided.
5.3 We may store your IP address for mutual protection, and to gather broad statistics on usage.
5.4 Your contact and property details may be amended at any time by logging into your "User Account" panel.
A "cookie" is a small file placed on your computer hard drive. Most cookies are "session cookies", which means they are usually deleted at the end of the session, such as when closing your browser. We may place a "cookie" on your computer when you visit certain parts of our website, and also when you log in as a registered user. You can change the settings on your browser to block cookies, but doing so will prevent us from delivering certain services to you. We may use third party adverts on the website. These adverts may contain cookies which appear to come from us, when they actually originate from a third party.
7. Statistical Analysis
We may aggregate data for monitoring website usage and other statistical information of interest. This aggregated data is used to assist us in developing the website and our service further, and may also be provided to third parties. No information in the aggregated data will allow an individual to be identified.
You agree to receive marketing information which we feel may be relevant from us, unless you inform us that you would prefer not to receive marketing communication from us. You can opt out of receiving marketing communication during registration, or by following the directions given in the communication.
You agree not to spam or send information in messages to other users which they have not agreed to.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
11. Access to Information The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
